Sustainability and Ethics Officer (Circular Economy)

Sustainability is deeply rooted in our DNA here at the John Lewis Partnership and it is central to our pursuit of a happier world. We are excited to be recruiting for an Ethics & Sustainability Officer within our Circular Economy team. The successful candidate will play a key part in the acceleration and integration of our sustainability plans across two of the UK’s most loved brands, Waitrose and John Lewis.

In this role you will be responsible for delivering our environmental compliance programme and supporting key projects to meet our Partnership Plan objectives. This role can be based in either our Bracknell or Victoria offices.

The role will entail:

• Delivering our environmental compliance programme and engaging with internal and external stakeholders

• Supporting the delivery of projects to meet our existing targets (e.g. business models, packaging reduction, product circularity)

• Horizon scanning key environmental issues and emerging industry trends

• Coordinating internal and external reporting and engaging our Partners and customers

What you’ll have

• Strong interest in and passion for sustainability

• Strong team player and excellent people skills

• Excellent organisational skills including a strong attention to detail

• Good IT and data management skills

• Good written and verbal communicator

What else can you bring?

• Relevant industry experience in the Circular Economy

• Awareness of key pieces of environmental legislation

• Sustainability-related qualification

• Knowledge of application of Ethics & Sustainability in a retail context
