Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Artist Assistant to join our busy Art Studio in Soho. Working closely with Production Manager’s to manage a small team of Artist Assistants’.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Studio supervision of production of artworks, having regular meetings with the management to discuss production progress, refinement of process etc.

  • Looking after and maintaining tools and any work related equipment.
  • Moving and lifting artwork and materials under supervision.
  • Working with the tech team to hang and move artworks across various locations
  • Overseeing photography in the studio
  • Must be clean and tidy
  • Research for future projects as instructed by studio manager
  • Assemble, construct and disassemble artworks where required
  • Must be commercially minded and able to think clearly at all times about the impact of cost, quality and time to all projects no matter how small
  • Working to tight deadlines and being aware of and being able to produce work at levels of quality needed.
  • Ensuring best practice in the studio, on site, transporting and storage of works is adhered to.
  • Overseeing the Artist Assistants in terms of work ethic, timekeeping and agreed quality level as directed by management.
  • Giving feedback on Artist Assistant’s performance to management
  • Working to the requirements of the company

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong drawing and draftsman skills
  • Experience of fabrication and installation of mainly 2D artwork projects
  • Strong colour theory and painting skills
  • Art handling/packing and hanging experience
  • Mac literate
  • Good level of fitness
  • Knowledge of painting techniques and materials
  • Strong time management skills
  • Must be able to respond quickly to changing requests/briefs
  • Excellent communication
  • Able to follow and improve upon defined work processes.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: From £27,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

Work Location: One location
