Start date: ASAP

London Living Wage: £11.05 per hour

Hours: 7.5 hours per week 12.30pm to 2.00pm Monday to Friday, Term

Time, 38 weeks per year

We are looking for 2 Midday Meal Supervisors to join our current team at this 11-19 comprehensive school for girls. Duties will include supervision of students both indoors and around the school grounds.

You will need to be an enthusiastic, motivated and committed individual with good communication skills to join our team. You will be working in a friendly and vibrant environment. You will, as part of your role ensure the security, welfare, safety and good conduct of our students during the midday break. You will need to have a confident and positive approach to dealing with students of secondary school age.

Shortlisted candidates invited for an interview will be given the opportunity to experience a lunchtime session first-hand.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Post Title Midday Meal Supervisor

Grade London Living Wage – currently £11.05 per hour

Supervised by Assistant Headteacher

Work Pattern –Term Time, 38 weeks 12:30 pm to 2.00 pm

Working Conditions Physical activity and outdoors

Overall objective of the post

To be responsible for the supervision of students both within the school building and school grounds.

To supervise students in accordance with all school policies, including equal opportunities, Code of

Conduct, Health and Safety and Anti Bullying Policies of the school and with regard to the welfare and social needs of the students during the midday break.

Key tasks of the post

  • Assisting students to form and maintain an orderly queue before, during and on entering the dining area.
  • Supervising, managing and encouraging students the return of plates, cutlery and waste to given points. e.g. ensure students dispose of unwanted food or non-food items in the appropriate recycle and refuse areas.
  • In accordance with the school’s Behaviour Policy use the Behaviour Blueprint to support and encourage good behaviour.
  • Carry out duties effectively, dealing with problems and maintaining the health and safety of all students
  • Safeguard all students and ensure that school systems are followed.
  • Be always vigilant, raising concerns about any students with the teachers or Assistant

Headteacher.

  • Maintain a safe hazard free environment, taking prompt and effective action to deal with any such spillages or hazards in accordance with school procedures.
  • Supporting the catering team in clearing and cleaning the dining area during and after lunchtime service.
  • Associated ancillary duties.
  • Ongoing continuing professional development will be provided throughout the academic year as well as on the job training.

Note: On staff training days, Midday Meal Supervisors may be required to be in school either for training of their own or to join other staff in training for whole school issues which affect their work.

Annual leave during term time

The work of the Midday Meal Supervisor is crucial to the well-being of the school and can only be properly undertaken when there is a full complement of staff. Requests for leave in term time will only be considered when circumstances are extreme. Even then you should be prepared that your request may be turned down.

Please note the school is situated inside the congestion zone. There is a back gate for staff to use which is outside the zone and avoids the charge.
