Secret Essence Cake Boutique is a new bakery / café opening in February 2026, in the heart of Waltham Abbey, Essex.
We are looking for an experienced hardworking and passionate Cake Baker / Decorator to join our team.
You will be working towards producing the highest-quality baked goods. You will be required to work with buttercream, ganache and fondant. You must have knowledge of food Health & Safety practices, making sure these are adhered to at all times, including cleanliness, food handling and safe storage.
Responsibilities:
- Able to follow instructions and be able to bake a selection of cakes, cupcakes, brownies, macaroons and pastries Ability to decorate a range of items to a high standard including Wedding cakes, Birthday & Celebration Cakes, Desserts & more
- Covering cakes and novelty cakes to a professional finish including icing and piping, carving, modelling and more
- Preparing filings, mixes and frosting
- Work alongside directors in creating new recipes and designs
- Stock control and general kitchen duties
- Supervising and directing team members (In absence of managers)
- Occasional Front of house order taking
- Maintaining Stock rotation and general kitchen duties
- Responsible for updating HACCP records
- Preparing & packaging online orders for collection
- Ensure kitchen and working areas are kept clean at all times
Requirement:
- Must have at least 1-2 years experience as a cake baker / decorator in a professional kitchen
- Willingness to learn and have a good work ethic
- Hardworking and trustworthy individual
- Attention to detail and working to deadlines in a fast past environment
- Ability to work on your own initiative and also work well as part of a team
- Physical fit to carry heavy sacks of flour and Mid/heavy duty equipment (Mixers and Bowls)
- Must be flexible with working hours including overtime in busier seasons
- Have a high levels of cleanliness and organisational skills.
- Must obtain Food Hygiene level 2 Qualification (Including Allergens & Covid Safety Certificate)
- Must have right to work in the UK
Language:
English (Required) Must have good level of reading and writing in english
Qualifications
- baking / Decorating: 2 years (Required)
Shift:
8am - 5/6pm
Full time: 5-6 days/week (Mondays- Saturday)
